The Art of Submission
As DarkestGoth Girl 2019, it’s been a pleasure serving you. As we come to a close on the year, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support in helping one of my wildest dreams come true.
When I was in junior high school, my best friend signed up with “Barbizon” where “ Be a model or look like one” was an aspiring young girl’s potentially promising tried and true claim to fame. In this private school, they teach you the basics of everything from how to apply makeup to social etiquette, as well as runway modeling and photo session tips. Upon graduating, they assist you with pointers on getting an agent. I wanted to attend this school but unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to enroll. My best friend completed the course and ended up finishing with alumni status. A few years later she landed a role on national television with a regular gig on “Good Morning America” and managed to get her face and column into “Glamour Magazine”. To all of you Glamour Casting Witches out there, here’s wishing you a “Good Mourning America” from your truly, “The Charm School Reject”.
Years later, I landed my own national and international recurring television spot as trailer girl on “ The Osbournes”. Forget 15 minutes, it was my 5 or maybe 10 second claim to fame…my own little spot, all by myself, featured clear as a bell. However over the span of that month, it probably accumulated into a lifetime if you added up every time someone saw it and put it all together . I cannot think of a cooler place to land a gig if you’re gonna be seen on tv. How many people do you know get to hang out in The Osbournes Beverly Hills garage for 2 hours and enjoy complimentary water and get paid cash? I even managed to sneak one of my own hard rock records right on top of the light switch box near the door. Can’t miss it. Maybe the Prince of Darkness himself will find it. All of those years of pent up envy from the mourning show disappeared instantly.
After that I received my own glamour accolades as “DarkestGoth Magazine’s Spokesmodel 2019”, including featured photo galleries for an entire year! At DarkestGoth I could actually be myself and create my own stuff instead of having some corporate headquarter office telling me what I must wear, how to pose, and which fork I must use for my salad to be politically correct while having that prearranged power lunch with the boss. As an added bonus, I received my own monthly column page as “Neckromance” on “Scary Movie Night”. Besides a monthly write up, we also shoot black and white video reviews Elvira style! It doesn’t get better than that!
Anyhow, last year, during the video part of DarkestGoth Magazine’s spokesmodel contest, before I was elected DarkestGoth Girl 2019, I mentioned that I would like to help in artist development for the Goth Community. This month, I had the golden opportunity to fulfill that wish. Please feel free to check out this ‘taste of success’ video for new insight into our endless possibilities of potential growth and expansion. As a straight woman with a strait stick, my role as corporate dominatrix is empowerment towards worldly domination. With shrewd integrity and bold moves, I gave it my best shot. As we unite to continue our mission, I encourage ALL of you to keep submitting new stuff to DarkestGoth Magazine. Together, we have the ability to build an empire of monstrosity, and through diligent perseverance, we have the opportunity to reach our own claims to fame!
Happy HorrorDays and Merry Creepmus!
Yours Ghoulie,
Karen
