This upcoming weekend, there will be plenty to take in for the Gothic minded adventurer in the Kentucky & Ohio areas.
If you need to get some ink done, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday May 17-19th will boast the 2nd Annual Louisville Tattoo Arts Convention, sponsored through Villain Arts by Tattooed Kingpin, at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY. Entry fees are $20 a day or $40 for the entire weekend (not including seminar fees). Those who choose to have one of the vendors do a new Tat while they’re there can pay a $10 fee to enter their new ink into the Tattoo of the Day contest, with the winning tat owners and artists receiving trophies or plaques each day at midnight.
Special guests will include: Megan Massacre from NY Ink, Amy Nicoletto from LA Ink, Sarah Miller from Ink Master, and “Big Daddy” Tray Benham from Ink Master.
DGM’s Laila Black and her collaborator, Gigi, will cover the event for us on Friday and Saturday, scouting for the coolest tats to present in a gallery here at DGM, as well as writing an article on the event.
Sunday, May 19th, Gothic models, photographers, makeup artists, and hair dressers will descend on the Cincinnati, OH suburb of Covington, KY for the Haunted Group Shoot II, coordinated by Rocky Doll II and Mortified Zombabe.
So how does it work? The event is designed to allow new models and photographers to have a safe place to get started in their craft, while giving established photographers and models an opportunity to try out new associations in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. To facilitate this, the shoot coordinators arranged the use of a haunted house in Covington, KY, with photographers and models being charged just $5 for the entire day of shooting, while makeup technicians and hairdressers get in free. (It’s designed to fairly reflect a charge to defray costs to those who most directly benefit and to provide an incentive for those who are so necessary to make the event possible.)
If you’re just now hearing about the event and you’re a photographer, makeup artist, or hairdresser, you can still get involved! The outpouring of modeling talent means that you will likely find your slots filled even at this late date and get a chance to help and work with some wonderful models!
Laila Black will be conducting video interviews for DGM from 2-3 PM at the shoot, with a recap interview with DGM’s own Nara Gordon (of 2DG Modeling & Promotions Facebook ) at the conclusion of the event!
